Small Houses Announce New Album “Still Talk,” West Coast Tour

Small Houses, aka Flint, MI-born and Philadelphia, PA-based singer-songwriter Jeremy Quentin, will release his new album Still Talk; Second City on February 10th, 2015 via The Cottage Recording Co. A CD/LP pre-order with instant download of album track “Staggers and Rise” (stream/share above) is currently available via the Small Houses website.

Still Talk; Second City is an album that manages to feel both vast and personal at the same time. Quentin’s songs about friendship, love, home, and travel capture small, intimate moments rendered to a warm familiarity by the way he unravels each story with his gentle, life-worn rasp. The spacious production furthers the album’s enveloping intimacy, with the faint sounds of hands on a guitar and breaths taken seeping through, and the songs subtly bleeding into one another. From the wistful, evocative, and bare acoustics of “Seventeen In Roselore” (featuring Samantha Crain), to the bright, cascading “Staggers and Rise,” and to the worn elegance of the fingerpicked “South, Southern,” Still Talk; Second City feels cohesive and complete.

Quentin began writing Still Talk; Second City as early as February 2012, following the release of Small Houses’ Exactly Where You Wanted To Be. The songs came together throughout his endless tour schedule, born in all-night restaurants and on the couches of friends, and out of the exhaustion of too much time spent moving. Quentin settled in Atlanta, GA for eight months to record at The Cottage studio with Damon Moon, who helped round off the songs and serve as a sounding board, in addition to producing and engineering the album.

Small Houses will head out on a west coast tour in January supporting The Harmed Brothers, beginning on the 7th in Fresno, CA, in addition to an album release show in Denver, CO on February 7th. A current itinerary is below and more US dates throughout the winter will be announced soon.
