Quick Hits: Black Light White Light, Noel Gallagher, Vicky Chow & Tristan Perich, Ladder Devils

  • Diffuser has the U.S. premiere of Black Light White Light‘s music video for the song “Running.” The track showcases the Danish trio’s gift for blending distorted ’90s shoegaze rock with jangly West Coast ’60s-inspired pop. Such a bohemian mix of musical influences is heard throughout the group’s new album, Gold Into Dreams, to be released in the U.S. on October 14.
  • On Monday October 13, Noel Gallagher will appear at a live Q&A event at Facebook headquarters in London. Gallagher made the special announcement via Facebook to his 646,000 fans. The message can be seen on Gallagher’s Facebook page.
  • New Amsterdam Records has revealed the first excerpt from Surface Image, the new album-length composition for solo piano with 40-channel 1-bit electronics composed by Tristan Perich and performed by pianist Vicky Chow. Surface Image will see a release on October 28, 2014. The excerpt premiered via Tiny Mix Tapes, who noted that “The depth gathered in just the first nine minute bulk of Surface Image alone is brilliantly wearing, folding pixels and wires over themselves in a dizzying manner to smooth and lull.”
  • Philadelphia noise rock quartet Ladder Devils make their long awaited return with Clean Hands, the first proper full-length for the band. Featuring former members of hardcore heroes The Minor Times, the group previously released a series of EPs and splits leading up to the recording of this album. The band is currently streaming the second single from Clean Hands via Lambgoat and the first single “The Combine” can be heard via Soundcloud.
