Culture Collide 2014 Announce Four International Bands To Watch

This October the fifth edition of Culture Collide will commence in Los Angeles from October 16th to 18th, and will take place for the first time ever in San Francisco on October 14th and 15th. Over the past half decade Culture Collide has established itself as a unique and exciting international gathering where attendees exchange ideas at its Creative Summit, and experience art, food, drink, and music from all corners of the world. Unlike contemporary festivals and conferences where lineups mirror a year end list of well known US album releases, Culture Collide puts the focus on true discovery on a worldwide scale.

With bands from 20 different countries represented at the 2014 Culture Collide festivals, it can be hard to wrap one’s head around the diverse array of talented acts. So we invite you to explore a sampling of four bands performing this year in Los Angeles and San Francisco. Below find a little bit of the story and music of Jordan’s AUTOSTRAD, Peru’s Takeoffs & Landings, Israel’s The Koroko, and The Netherlands’ Taymir.

AUTOSTRAD is an Jordanian indie band formed in 2007. Derived from the everyday life in Jordan its slang and traditional song, the group tackles stories of love, struggle, financial challenges, life on the street, and finding oneself in their music. Gaining a wide fan base amongst the youth because of their innovative correspondence to daily life.

Taymir makes authentic pop songs in the ’60’s beat’ tradition. Their debut single ‘Aaaaah’ topped the Dutch airplay charts upon its release, and their debut album Phosphene, was released late 2013 in the Netherlands and Taymir was proclaimed ‘the sound of 2014’ by the Dutch music press.

Formed in late 2013 in Lima, Peru, Takeoffs & Landings brings together a range of distinct outlooks, molded by the diverse nationalities of its respective members, and unique musical personalities. The result is a perfect musical marriage. An airy and bewitching voice blends seamlessly with an array of textures and tones – ranging from alternative electronic moods to explosive and gripping indie riffs – to create a chemistry of sounds that is at once compelling, intense and raw.

The Kokoro is an audio/visual project created by singer/songwriter/visual artist Lee Triffon, and musically produced by Dan Farber. They describe themselves as an ambitious fusion of medias that blurs the boundaries between EDM and avant-garde, translating into a new audio visual experience.

Culture Collide events in Los Angeles will take place at historic Los Angeles venues along Sunset Blvd. and beyond, including The Echo, Echoplex, Taix, The Church and the Culture Collide World Stage, located at the Taix parking lot. While San Francisco’s Mission District plays host at The Chapel, Elbo Room, West of Pecos, Amnesia, and Mission Workshop.

As an integral part of both Culture Collide Los Angeles and San Francisco, the Culture Collide Creative Summit will brings together an eclectic mix of influential speakers from the music, entertainment, and lifestyle industries. Delegates from around the world will discuss the current climate and future of art, recorded music, record sales, touring, brand partnerships, digital strategies and more. Open to all Culture Collide wristband holders, further details and a lineup of speakers will be announced in the coming weeks.

Culture Collide will also take place in New York City on October 23rd and 24th during CMJ. Details and line up to be announced.
