“No Slam Dancing” Book Sells Out First Printing, Goes Digital

No Slam Dancing, No Stage Diving, No Spikes: an Oral History of the Legendary City Gardens has officially released in digital format by DiWuelf Publishing. It is available for all Kindle devices through Amazon. The first printing of the book sold out in two weeks.

Since its release in March, the oral history that documents the evolution of various subcultures and sub-genres of music through the portal of the City Gardens club in Trenton, NJ has been garnering attention and acclaim all over. With a first printing that sold out in less than two weeks and author Amy Yates Wuelfing’s memorable appearance on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

No Slam Dancing sales have fared phenomenally for an independently published title. It was highlighted by Amazon as the second-fastest selling music-related book (second only to Legs McNeil’s Please Kill Me) and it has been extensively well-reviewed by a number of media outlets including the: Philadelphia Inquirer, Vulture, Spin, TheRumpus, Newark Star Ledger, Magnet, Dangerous Minds, Stereogum to name but a few. Authors Amy Yates Wuelfing and Steven DiLodovico have also appeared on a number of radio and TV shows WFMU-FM, East Village Radio’s Black and Blue Takeover, The Rock Book Show, WOR-TV’s Chasing New Jersey, and WRSU.

DiLodovico and Yates Wuelfing have just completed a successful book signing tour that took them to taverns, record shops, independent book stores and flea markets around the region. Now, No Slam Dancing gets the 21st Century treatment as it morphs into an easy-to-carry digital format (just in time for summer beach-reading!). Included in this newest version is a 180 page, exhaustively-researched gig calendar, highlighting some of the most storied bills in City Gardens’ 14+ years of existence.
