Slow Club Announces Fall North American Headlining Tour

Sheffield, England’s Slow Club have announced a fall North American headlining tour in support of the band’s upcoming third LP, Complete Surrender. The two-week tour will launch on September 17th at the Bowery Ballroom in New York, NY, winds the band up and down the east and west US coasts and into Canada, and includes an October 4th show in Los Angeles, CA, at The Echo.

Earlier this month, Slow Club released the Michael Legge-directed official video for powerhouse pop song “Suffering You, Suffering Me” off Complete Surrender. Complete Surrender will be released in the US on July 15, 2014 via Wichita Recordings and a digital pre-order, which includes instant downloads of both “Suffering You, Suffering Me” and the title track, is available now via iTunes. The album can also be pre-ordered on CD or vinyl via Wichita.

Produced by Colin Elliot (Richard Hawley), Complete Surrender introduces a much fuller sound for the duo of Rebecca Taylor and Charles Watson – soulful, sophisticated pop songs with influences ranging from Frankie Valli and Marvin Gaye to Katy Perry and Taylor Swift – and consolidates the change in direction introduced by debut track “Tears of Joy.” The album is the sound of a band coming into their own to create an LP brimming with confidence and skill, managing throughout to harness both the spirit of their influences and their constant desire to experiment.

Since forming in 2006, Slow Club have released two EPs, 2008’s Let’s Fall Back In Love and 2009’s Christmas, Thanks For Nothing, and two albums, 2009’s Yeah, So and 2011’s Paradise. The latter garnered praise from The New York Times, Pitchfork (“There is still a sweetness to their sound, but it’s balanced out with a range of more difficult emotions and a darker tonal palette”), Rolling Stone (“These folk-punk mystics bring fairy-dusted heat in dangerous quantities”), Paste, All Music Guide, and Popmatters, among others.
