Mars Red Sky to Release “Stranded in Arcadia”

French riff experts Mars Red Sky will release their new LP Stranded in Arcadia on June 10 via Listenable Records. With a sound that hovers between experimental doom rock and 70’s psych pop, Mars Red Sky’s sound intrigues and attracts; each song a cosmic ritual of solar burning fuzz and reverberated atmospheres. Considered one of the greats of the European heavy psych scene, Mars Red Sky have gained international recognition thanks to constant touring and an unquestionably unique sound based on powerful grooves, melodic, aerial guitar riffs and ethereal vocals.

In advance of the release of Stranded in Arcadia, Mars Red Sky releases a tripped-out music video for the new song “Hovering Satellites”, which makes its world premiere today via The Obelisk, who states that the clip, “blends live footage (captured by Bartosch Salmanski) with psychedelic color work, space scenes and wave patterns, all feeding into the atmosphere of the song itself” and that “of course the highlight is the song itself, which perfectly encapsulates Stranded in Arcadia’s accomplished melodic sensibility, heavy grooving and memorable songcraft.” Check out Mars Red Sky’s “Hovering Satellites” video.

The story of our new record is actually some sort of happy accident,” comments guitarist/vocalist Julien Pras. “We were supposed to record at Harper Hug’s Thunder Underground Studio in Palm Springs, California in the time between our last South and North American tours, and an issue with U.S. customs forced us to stay in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Our Brazilian booking agent introduced us to producer Gabriel “Bill” Zander, who instantly invited us to record at his studio, Superfuzz, while we had time to kill. We locked ourselves in Superfuzz for four straight days and recorded the entire album. We felt like we were “stuck” in Rio, it was a wonderful place and we met a lot of amazing people. The title of the record sums up this paradox; a trial that led us to a great experience and the making of a record which would have probably been much different, if things happened as planned.”

Mars Red Sky features guitarist/vocalist Julien Pras, bassist/vocalist Jimmy Kinast and drummer Matgaz.
