Quick Hits: Blessed State, Sun Vision, Crucified Barbara, Sam Coffey and the Iron Lungs, Tiny Victories

  • Massachusetts-based melodic punk quartet Blessed State is set to release their new 12’ LP Head Space on June 24 via Safety Meeting Records. The video for “Best Case Scenario” is premiering on BrooklynVegan.com. Filmed at an abandoned religious amusement park in Connecticut, the video follows a band on a hunt for an AWOL drummer before culminating in an outlandish bonfire punk show.
  • Swedish pop trio Sun Vision is back with “Varghagen,” a 21-track album, available on Spotify and iTunes.
  • More from Sweden! The country’s Crucified Barbara have released a music video for their track “To Kill A Man.” The hard hitting “To Kill A Man” is taken from the Swedish quartet’s forthcoming album “In The Red” (released August 20th via Despotz Records).
  • Check out two tracks from Sam Coffey and the Iron Lungs, “Get Pumped Up” and the music video for “Calgary Hill.” They will be releasing “Gates of Hell” on Southpaw Records on July 13th. Four of the more anthemic tracks from “Gates Of Hell” were recorded by Ben Cook of Fucked Up and Young Guv fame (among a slew of other projects). Coffey tracked the rest of the record himself as the band grew into their own.
  • The Sleepover Party have shared “Systems” from Tiny Victories‘ upcoming full-length Haunts, due June 10, 2014. The track premiered via Neon Gold, who said that it’s “bursting at the seams with anthemic urgency, buoyant synths and razor sharp hooks, but with an added weight-of-the-world intensity as frontman Greg Walters’ sings of love and lost on the open road.” The track was co-produced by Sam Vanderhoop Lee of Magic Man, alongside Haunts producer Alex Aldi.
