Local H Announces Spring Tour

Two-man Chicago band Local H have announced plans to hit the road for their first East Coast tour since naming Ryan Harding as the band’s new drummer. Dates begin April 16th in Indianapolis and include a stop in New York City at the Mercury Lounge on April 21st.

Harding, who had been playing in Minneapolis bands Left Brain Heart and Bruder, relocated to Chicago and joined Local H late last year. The band will wrap up Harding’s first official tour with Local H, which covered Texas, Florida and parts of the Midwest, this weekend.

Local H has been testing out a couple of new songs on the road and will continue to do so on the Spring tour dates. Fans can also expect to hear the revamped line-up’s take on Local H classics like “Bound for the Floor” and “All the Kids Are Right” and on deeper cuts from their considerable catalog, as well as songs from the band’s most recent releases — Hallelujah! I’m a Bum (2012) and The Another February EP (2013).

Local H frontman Scott Lucas, who also writes about film for Chicagoist, was recently asked to compile a list of his essential rock movies for Music Radar.

Additionally, Lucas has been tapped to host film screenings at Rodan (1530 N. Milwaukee Ave., Chicago). The bi-weekly series, called Cinema Rodan, kicks off Tuesday, March 11th with a double-feature of “Purple Rain” and “Streets of Fire” (both of which he discusses in the Music Radar piece.) See flyer below. More info coming soon.
