Cheatahs Announce June US Tour Dates with Eagulls, NYC Headlining Show

London, England’s Cheatahs have announced a new run of US tour dates this June. The band will travel to the States for a six-show run supporting Eagulls beginning June 4th at The Crocodile in Seattle, WA, and wrapping up on June 11th at the Brillobox in Pittsburgh, PA. Cheatahs will also play their own headlining show in New York City at the Mercury Lounge on June 12th. Next month, the band will first head out on a European tour and then dates supporting Cloud Nothings in Europe and the UK in May. Cheatahs are also confirmed for a number of UK and European festivals throughout the spring and summer, including Live at Leeds in England on May 3rd and the Best Kept Secret Festival in Hilvarenbeek, The Netherlands in June.

Cheatahs stopped by the KEXP studios in Seattle, WA during their US headlining tour in February and the full session, featuring four songs off their self-titled debut album. Cheatahs was released on February 11th via Wichita Recordings and has garnered great press from outlets including All Music Guide, Alternative Press, The AV Club, Interview, MAGNET, and VICE (‘Best Album of the Month’ – February 2014), among others. The band also recently released a new single, “Leave To Remain,” off the album.

A roaring mix of ecstatic noise, ambient drone, and resounding alt-rock, Cheatahs expands the sound found on Extended Plays, the band’s 2013 compilation of the band’s UK-only EP releases. Throughout the album, Cheatahs maintain a pitch-perfect balance of melody, noise, and texture, from the barreling guitar wall of “Geographic” to the gentler, sinuous “Mission Creep;” from the anthemic “The Swan” (an altered take from the Extended Plays version) to the charging, multi-parted atmospherics of “Kenworth;” and from the evocative, swooning “IV” to the booming “Get Tight” and “…catchy-as-f*ck soaring-guitar anthem” (Stereogum) “Fall.” Loose themes of nature, the city, memory, dislocation, self-identity and the complexities of relationships run through all the songs, which were recorded and mixed by bassist Dean Reid and produced by the band, in keeping with their previous releases.

Cheatahs are: Nathan Hewitt (vocals/guitar), Marc Raue (drums), Dean Reid (bass/vocals), and James Wignall (guitar/vocals).
